The ski mountaineering tour to the Tour Ronde begins at the Aiguille du Midi. After a short descent, you traverse the Glacier du Tacul for a long stretch to the foot of the Tour Ronde. Then ascend steeply through a snowy couloir, with occasional rope protection. Continue over exposed terrain to the summit, which offers a first-class view. The descent starts with a rappel, followed by a ski descent across the glacier down to the level of the ascent track. From there, simply follow it back to the cable car at the Midi.

The ascent to the Col du Tacul saddle can be ideally integrated into the popular, scenic descent through the Vallée Blanche from the Aiguille du Midi to the Mer de Glace. You simply branch off to the right toward the Glacier de Périades and climb the northeast-facing slope. From an altitude of around 2750 m, the track turns left again and the slope exposure shifts to the northwest. In the upper section, the ski ascent is replaced by a short climb on foot with crampons. The descent follows the ascent route down to the Glacier du Tacul and continues over it to the Mer de Glace. From there, you can reach the Montenvers train station either by cable car or on foot.
