The ski touring route to Granatspitze from the Rudolfshütte offers a rewarding circular option. The ascent leads via the Sonnblickkees up to the Granatspitzsattel. From there, continue with crampons to the summit. After returning to the saddle, enjoy a descent of about 700 meters. At Unterer Schöber, put skins back on and ascend to the flat pass Kalser Tauern. The tour can be finished either on the ski slope or via open terrain along the northern slopes below Tauernkogel.

Medelzkopf is the easiest ski tour above the Rudolfshütte. It’s a simple option for bad weather or poor visibility. Both the ascent and descent can be done along the ski slope. The final section to the summit is easy, though it depends on snow conditions.

Hoch Fürlegg is, together with Medelzkopf, one of the few summits in the area where you don’t have to deal with a tricky glacier. This almost 3000-meter peak is an ideal choice for a warm-up tour. The slope angle is only occasionally steeper than 30°, the glacier can be bypassed, and the summit views are comparable to those from surrounding peaks. And who cares that it’s missing just 57 meters to reach the “magical” 3000 m mark.

Stubacher Sonnblick from the Rudolfshütte is a reliable choice. There are several options for both ascent and descent lines. The final 150 vertical meters between the glacier and the summit form a rocky pyramid. In good snow conditions, it is possible to climb on skis almost to the summit cross. From the top, there are beautiful views westward to the massive Großvenediger, while to the southeast the highest mountain in Austria—Großglockner—dominates the skyline.
